Prayer or meditation
On this Good Friday
“…and the women that followed him from Galilee
stood afar off, beholding these things.” – Luke 23:49
On this Good Friday,
when we remember the suffering of Jesus at unjust hands,
his death on the cross,
we hold in our hearts those who suffer at unjust hands today:

Where dead souls wait: for Easter Saturday
“In the spirit also he went and made his proclamation to the
imprisoned spirits.” – I Peter 3: 19
“He descended into hell.” – the Apostles’ Creed
In the pause that follows suffering and death,
as the cold and lifeless body lies broken in
the tomb,
the spirit lives on unsuspected, descending
into darkness,
its light extinguished
Evening Prayer
God of all goodness,
Our minds are anxious and even our hearts seem weighed with too much of the world,
Help us feel the precious sanctity of the soul, the still quiet voice within.
And your presence.

The harvest has been largely gathered in,
and we give thanks for it, as it

Meditation for Summer
Spirit of Life and Love,
too often we walk around with the eyes
and ears of our hearts tight closed,
and miss the beauties all around us.
May we be open to the entrancement that is summer…
If a combination of sunshine and rain
in just the right quantities
has blessed our world during the past
Meditation for Spring
Spring is the season of renewal and promise and hope.
In the natural world outside our doors,
the annual frenzy of growth is evident all around us –
in the woods, and the parks, and the gardens,
alongside the paths our feet walk,
the clean white blossom of blackthorn and hawthorn in the hedgerows,
