Spirit of Life and Love,
Thank you for the many blessings of Summer School;
for our sacred community, where it is okay to be authentic;
for the theme talk speakers, group leaders, worship leaders,
optional session leaders and the Summer School Panel,
who make it all possible;
for each and every one of us, who
Meditation for Summer
Spirit of Life and Love,
too often we walk around with the eyes
and ears of our hearts tight closed,
and miss the beauties all around us.
May we be open to the entrancement that is summer…
If a combination of sunshine and rain
in just the right quantities
has blessed our world during the past
Summer is a joyous time
Summer is a joyous time.
The promise of spring has been fulfilled in the lengthened days and the warmth of the sun.
In this time of happiness, it is good to think of the past winter, and to remember the broken saplings and the trodden flowers – plants, animals, people who have been taken from us, always too early. We think
This day is warm
This day is warm
The air is still
Gone is the threat
Of thunder
And rain.
This day requires
A slowing down
A letting go
Of musts and
Shoulds and
Oughts.
This day
Is a day
Simply
To Be.
Today is a day
To open
Closing blessing
May the spirit of constant change
Be ever renewing itself in your hearts
Pruning, composting, and growing
That you may bear blossom and fruit.
Amen.
Chalice lighting for Midsummer
The light is at the height of its power
The Sun shines fiercely.
But now that power must wane
Descending into the darkness
to be reborn.
Light and darkness dance
in the crucible of desire
and bring forth life.
So we light the chalice flame
to represent life, hope, love and laughter.
